Be Festive Friday! (Fabulous Friday #10)

Its time to be FESTIVE! Can you believe how fast the time is going? I have so much to do still! At least I have this opportunity to show off what I HAVE gotten done. And you too:) share share share!

1. Write about an accomplishment, daily task, or something exciting that has happened (or will happen) in your life that you deserve some recognition for. Remember, make sure it's festive!

 2. If possible, post a picture showing that accomplishment.

3. Copy the "Festive Friday" button and place it in your post. Or copy the code and place it in your html.

 4. Link up your post here and spread the word!

This time of year is full of fun things to do. So many, I couldn't list them all if I tried! But I will tell you one of my very favorite parts about the Holidays. Sending out our xmas cards! Being a photographers wife definitely has its perks. We take our own pictures and design our own cards and bam. Done-zo. Here's a sample from our family photo sesh....

Its my fav from the shoot because it completely catches us in the moment. I think I'm smiling between kisses, and so it looks kind of awkward, but its just a sweet moment I'm glad I caught on film.

This is the one we are actually using on our xmas card....

Is my hubby Tyler talented or what? Check him out at

So back to the link up. Why are you fabulously festive today?

Christmas Candy

Who doesn't love a little Christmas Candy?! You're crazy if you don't! My fav are chocolate covered pretzels. Actually, pretty much chocolate covered anything.

The Snyder Pretzel Sticks are the best for dipping and drizzling;)

If you're like me, melting chocolate over the stove or in the microwave is a disaster. I ALWAYS burn it. So a miniature croc pot will do the trick! Just make sure to stir it frequently so the chocolate on the sides and bottom doesn't burn. Also, Ghiradelli Chocolate is my absolute fav!

I like to use a mixture of cinnamon and sugar to sprinkle on top to add a little sparkle. And of course it tastes amazing.

This year, I decided to try bananas since I've been eating gluten free. They turned out to be really delicious...Until later in the day when they got brown and yucky. So I would advise only making enough to eat right then.

Don't forget to add a little variety. Some people may only like one type of chocolate, or topping, etc. You could roll them in nuts, coconut, sprinkles, whatever you fancy!

Just remember to have fun making them, and enjoy every bite:) And its ok to lick your fingers in the process...:)

I have been blessed with good friends who want to spread the love, and help each others blogs grow. Remember last week when I was featured? Well this week its Kyla's turn to get some love! So without further aduei.....

Hello Sittin Pretty Readers.
I'm Kyla Ford from FordOlogy.

I am a twenty-five year old wife to Kevin and first time mother to sweet baby Hunter.
I love cooking and baking. I am a closet fashionista: meaning; I love to shop, shoes especially, and I have more clothes then I will ever know what to do with but I don't have the guts to share my style with the world.
I am a BIG DYI-er. I enjoy finding old treasures (mostly from garage sales or thrift stores) and turning them into my own. I also love crafting, sewing, building and Pinterest-ing.
I love country music, road trips, Disneyland, and taking photos.
I am addicted to Dr. Pepper, Dove Chocolate, and leopard print.
FordOlogy or The Study of The Fords, was originally started to keep friends and family in California up to date with my little life here in Utah.
Blogging has turned out to be a favorite hobby of mine and I have loved being able to share our story with so many friends, old and new. Writing has always been a passion of mine and I love the freedom I have to write whatever I want, whenever I want in my very own place out there in the big online world.
My favorite feature on my blog has been my Friday Hot Lists. Each Friday (or as often as I can) I choose 6 FAVORITE THINGS (two for each member in our household) and write about them. They are the things that we loved the most that week. From clothes to toys, food and makeup, there have been LOTS of great HOT items talked about.
I am so proud of my little blog. I have enjoyed blogging about all sorts of topics that appeal to more women then just my family reading back home. I have loved the friends I have made through the blogging world and at the end of each day, I hope that my stories somewhere along the way can inspire, encourage or simply bring a smile to some persons life.

Thanks for following along.

This year I made a set of my own holiday ornaments. They are all red, gold, cream, and browns. I absolutely LOVE how they turned out and so does Tyler. He wants me to make enough for our entire tree! Maybe next year I will make more. This year I have way too much going on. But here is a preview! I will be doing a post next week going into more detail.

I think the one with the tiny elk ribbon is my favorite.

They look even better on my tree and I had the best time making them!

I'm sure you all make gingerbread houses every year like I do right? Well, this year is my favorite house I have ever made! The Gardner family got together over Thanksgiving break and prepped for the holidays a bit early. Mine is a miniature church house and it is seriously so small! And I have my mother in law to thank because she graciously shared part of her miniature village with me. My husband even got into the spirit and made his own house. Check out his hand sculpted reindeer lovers.... what??? I know, he's always surprising me. How are you being festive this december?

December Delights

I always get a little ambitious when the holidays roll around. Well, any holiday really, I have so many things in mind that I want to do! Decorations to make, gifts to buy (and diy!), and recipes to try. And as always there is never enough time. HOWEVER.... I have decided to make a list all the same. So here it is, my Christmas To Do list.

I am absolutely obsessed with this. I think it would be adorable not only for Xmas, but for regular decor. I am vowing to make it this year! Cross my heart!!! I'm thinking with burlap in a frame? Maybe?

diy xmas - glitter reindeer

I know these don't look like Christmas decorations but picture them as a nativity of Christ, the star of Bethlehem, sheep, etc etc. I think it will be a lovely addition to the mantle that I don't have/will one day have. Yay or nay?
DIY frames!

I love how a little tulle and lace can transform these ordinary xmas lights into something elegant, don't you?

Last year I attempted to make an ornamant wreath and let me tell you it was an EPIC fail! But this looks slightly easier so I am hoping I fair better this time. And now that I live somewhere it doesn't snow (halelujiah!) I'm not worried about the peppermints melting. Can't wait to see this on my front door

What are your ambitions this holiday season? Worthy of sharing! Post in the comments below lovelies!

I can't wait! Here is an example of my fav green shirt from a previous post. And a pic of all the green and red in my closet...Not to mention jewelry!

Skulls and Chevrons

If you know me, or even have looked at my blog design, you must know I am a girly girl. I love anything sparkly, delicate, and feminine. Needless to say, skulls have never really been my thing. That being said, I actually found a blouse that I fell in LOVE with at DEB the other day.

It's so cute right? Even my husband likes it! Well, not at first but once he saw how cute it was on he changed his mind. And that adorable chevron necklace? A steal! Two for four dollars. So I got these and some cute new earrings.

And bonus, I can wear it to work! (black and white) This may be my new fav piece in my wardrobe.
Any good buys/finds lately friends? Do share!

Here's to You

Today is my very best friend's 23rd Birthday! Yay! I love her so much and miss her like crazy and I am very proud to say that for her birthday, she is coming down to see me this weekend! All together now, "Hooray!" In honor of her I am going to dedicate this post to her and our friendship.

Meet Megan Bowen. A must read hilarious blogger at A Redesigned Mind. 23 (TODAY!). Broadcast journalist. Big shot producer of The Daily Dish at ABC 4. Bad A hairdresser. Hater of dogs. Lover of 80's music, and of me! And basically just the best friend a girl can ask for!

Not to mention she has an awesome husband. Its so great when you actually like your friends husbands. It makes everything so much easier. IE they can BOTH come to visit and we all get along and have a great time. So here's a shout out to you Bart Bowen (health teacher, runner, and ultimate Aggies fan), I approve of you.

I luh you guys. Aren't they so freakin cute together? Anyways.... Heres a bit of our story. Although Megan is a much better writer than me (duh, journalist on our hands) I will do what I can....

We met on our first day of hair school. Pretty sure she instantly hated me. She was sassy, opinionated, and didn't take crap from anyone. While I was bubbly, overly nice, while also being somewhat opinionated. Not to mention her being rude to me didn't phase me at all and I killed her with niceneness. Which was probably even more annoying! Anyway, I'm not sure when the turning point was exactly but we became best friends and have been ever since. OH about....6 years now? We have had so many good times together.

AND this song sums it up. Thanks T-Swizzle

Heres us at 80's night. We went EVERY thursday after we turned 18 for Idk how long!

Here we are with our other best hair school friend Shelby. Ps look at my virgin hair! SOOO long and lovely! I miss it :( ahem anyways... P.S.S don't judge our duckfaces. Myspace masters here...(hang head in shame)

This was on our first road trip together in Vegas. We're so gangster (more duck faces?!)

This was closer to the end of our hair school days. I think it might have even been her last day? Close to it at least. She graduated first. It was rough without her! The good days...

These two pics are from my apt in provo. We got ready to hot tub only to find it closed. so we had our own hot "tub". Oh being young(er) ha we were silly. And immodest. Don't judge people!

We stayed good friends despite distance and growing up, and she was one of my bridesmaids at my wedding:)

Then of course, I was a bridesmaid at her wedding!

I also got to sing their wedding song to them at their reception. It was a big honor and I loved doing it! I was so nervous though, and I don't think I did too well, but either way I was glad to be a part of it.

Here is one of our most recent pictures together. Not the best of me but I love it still because its us! I can't wait for her to come visit me this weekend (Bart too) and have some more adventures, memories, and photos to add to my collection.

I love you Meg! Your my bff and our children will know of our friendship and know each other and many good things will come to us in the future that I am looking forward to! You're the best friend I could ever ask for. Love you lots!

Ladies, love your friends, and document every minute of it, because it goes by way too fast!
And check out my bestie over at A Redesigned Mind

Wish List

I don't know what it is about fall that makes me want to shop, but I just can't help it! I have found so many things I want! No, NEED! So Here it is for you. My fall wish list.

I just LOVE pretty blouses. U can never have too many right?

I've had my eye on this for a while. I found it on pinterest but I'm pretty sure its from a shop on etsy. I'm determined to find it! It's a beautiful his and her birthstone ring that I'm hoping I get for Christmas from my hubby...? Tyler, are you paying attention?? Good! (hehehe)

his and her birthstone.

So lovelyleopard print/ gray I'm pining for this
I'm also dying for this sweater. I'm sure I won't find the exact one, but I'm thinking I could DIY something similar? I absolutely love cozy sweaters! But only the ones that are still a little dressy:)

And I just adore the color combo on this dress. Too fab. I need to put
together an outfit that is similar.

I want it
AND I may or may not be considering switching to a cute/fancy backpack instead of a purse! Thoughts? suggestions on where I might find one? Urban outfitters is gonna be my first stop!

Also, who DOESN'T want this....

The Ipad mini *sigh* Isn't it lovely! Whats on your wish list bloggers?
